- Final Disappointment for Clan Men
The Clan men were defeated in NSW Championship Final today
by Young Irelands 2-08 to 1-07. A crucial first half goal by Young
Irelands provided to be the difference. Midway through the second
half Clan drew level thanks to a penalty however Young Irelands immediately
responsed with a goal of their own and were able to hold on despite
Clan pressuring for a second goal. Michael
Cusacks Ladies won the Football and Camogie titles while Craobh Padraig
claimed the hurling title.
17.09.06 - Clan Men Progress to Championship Final
The Clan men progressed to this year's Championship final
with a 1-08 to 1-06 victory over Penrith Gaels in an entertaining
game this afternoon. The Clan ladies were defeated in their semi-final
by Michael Cusacks earlier in the day.

- Clan Men taste defeat while the Ladies show the way
Clan men were defeated today by Penrith Gaels after a dreadful
first half showing. A controversial disallowing of a Clan goal when
4 points down , swiftly followed by a 2nd Penirth goal proved decisive
as Clan went into the break 2-03 to 0-01 down. Clan owned much of
the 2nd half and got within 3 points and again had a goal overruled
by the ref. However a 8 point deficit proved too much to pull back. The
ladies put in a magnificent defensive performance in securing a 3
point victory (1-06 to 1-03) against the in-form Central Coast. Coast's
dangerous midfield were well marshalled by the Clan girls in the middle
and this proven the driving influence for the victory. Clan's camogie
team went down against the skillful Craobh Padraig team however the
level of improvement has been siginifcant within the team boding well
for next year's campaign.

- Clan Men victorious over Cormac McAnallens
Clan men continued their good run of recent results with
an impressive 1-11 to 1-08 victory over current league champions and
championship table toppers Cormac McAnallens. Despite no games the
previous week, this game started brightly with McAnallens racing out
to a quick 3 point lead. Clan however pegged them back and got the
crucial first goal to lead 1-05 to 0-05 at the half. Clan continued
to dominate in the second half and were guilty of missing a number
of goal chances however for most of the second half they enjoyed a
six point adavantage. A goal in the last minute reduced the gap to
3 points however Clan were able to hold on to the ball until the final
whistle blew. Both teams now top the table with McAnallen's top due
to better points difference.

- Clan Men get off the mark
Clan men recorded their first win in this year's championship
with a 2-08 to 1-06 win over Young Irelands. After the disappointing
showing against McAnallens last week, everyone was looking for a much
improved performance. Before the match this looked unlikely as there
were only 15 players available however all 15 put in a tremendous
effort from the first throw-in and sustained it for the whole match.
Clan raced into a 6pts to nil lead at half time thanks to great defending
and players always having an open man to hit with the ball. Naturally
Young Irelands fought back at the start of the second half however
a two goal burst in a three minute spell broke their spirit and Clan
were able to see out the game. Clan will be keen to continue this
good form into next week's encounter against Irish Rovers when hopefully
the squad will be bolstered by a number of the absentees from today's
match.

- Championship - Round 1 Results
A disappointing start to the Championship for all Clan teams
today. An understrength Camogie team were defeated by Michael Cusacks
while an equally understrength Ladies team were fortunate to get a
forfeit win over Cusacks as they had insufficient numbers at the start
of the game. The Clan men went down to a last minute goal against
Cormac McAnallens in a game which saw McAnallens squander a number
of chances in the first half. So
improvement needed all around and no doubt improved performances will
be seen next week as the teams settle back into a more intense training
routine.

- Clan beaten in League Semis
Both the Men and Ladies teams were beaten in today's league
semi finals. With both teams severely understrength due to injuries
and players over in NZ for the All Blacks / Ireland series, it was
always going to be a tough task to progress to the deciders. The
Men were beaten by Cormac McAnallens (0-08 to 2-12) while the Ladies
were defeated by Irish Aussies (0-05 to 3-02).

- Disappointing day for the Clan Ladies
With the Men on a bye this weekend the focus was squarely
on the Ladies this afternoon in Auburn. Unfortunately it proved to
be a disappointing afternoon with the Camogie team being beaten by
Craobh Padraig while the ladies football team were beaten by Irish
Aussies (0-09 to 2-05) despite having most of the possession and chalking
up numerous scoring opportunities.Next
week is the last game in the league series. Both Clan football teams
play the current leaders with all teams being keen to go into the
semi finals on the back of a positive result.
