24.09.2007 – Clan Members go the long distance....
A number of Clan members were among the 20,000 who ran in yesterday's Blackmores Sydney Running Festival which included the Marathon, Half-Marathon, 9km and 4km races. Star forward from the Men's team Kevin Lynch showed his well known speed to record a great time of 35mins in the 9km race to finish in 120th place out of 9,845 runners. However the performance of the day fell to Ladies & Camogie stalwart Claire Mullen who attempted her first ever marathon and finished in a great time of 3:58. Also taking on the marathon was Mark McGuinness from the Men's team who was running his 3rd Sydney Marathon. Mark crossed the line in 3:45 to record a new personal best. Congrats to all the Clan members who took part in the various races and a big thank you to all the Clan members who turned up to cheer their team mates across the finish line.
16.09.2007 – Another Final heartbreak for Clan Ladies
3 finals appearances, defeats in each one… That’s how the season will be remembered by the Clan Ladies after a heartbreaking defeat to Central Coast in today’s championship final. It was the perverbial game of two halves as Clan totally dominated the whole first half. Terrific defending was complimented by quick movement of the ball up to the forwards who were dominating their markers however inaccurate kicking, the bain of all Clan teams this season saw the half-time score stand at 1-02 to 0-01 to Clan. A meagre return after Clan totally dominated the half but recorded 11 wides in the period. This was to prove their downfall as Coast started the 2nd half in blistering fashion scoring 3-02 in the first 10 minutes. Clan reduced the arrears to 2 goals with 15 mins left. There were no scores in the final 15 mins as defenders on both sides put their bodies on the line to prevent flags being raised. Clan had the better of the final period but again inaccurate shooting meant that all their pressure failed to register on the scoreboard and couldn’t prevent Coast from claiming a League and Championship double.
09.09.2007 – Clan wrap up Championship Final spot
Clan ladies confirmed their spot in the Championship final with an impressive 6-10 to 3-04 against Irish Aussies in their final game. Irish Aussies came into the match with an outside change of claiming the last spot in the final if they secured a victory with a high score however any potential for a shock were quickly dispelled by Clan when they went on attack from the first whistle. Waves of fluent attacking moves over the first fifteen minutes put the result in no doubt. Aussies came more into the game in the 2nd half were able to pick off scores of their own however the final result was never threatened. Clan move on to face Central Coast in a repeat of this season’s League Final.
