18.08.2008 - Championship Semi Final Round
LADIES ON TARGET FOR CLEANSWEEP; MEN'S DOUBLE HOPES DASHED
Clan Ladies were too strong for Michael Cusacks and booked their place in the Championship decider to face Cormac McAnallens after a convincing 4-11 to 1-09 victory. The Ladies are one victory away from a total cleansweep of all trophies having already claimed the Wollongong tournament, the Gosford tournament and the NSW League title. The Men's hopes for a League and Championship double were quashed when defeated in the semi final match against Cormac McAnallens. Clan were left rueing a heafty wide total in the first half after a masterful display by the McAnallens forwards in the second half handed the Clan Men a 8pt defeat and brings to an end a season which has seen them captured their first silverware in five years.
04.08.2008 - Championship Play Off Round
CLAN MEN FAIL TO FIRE; LADIES CLICK TO SECURE SEMI SPOT
Clan Men totally failed to show up for their play-off game against Young Irelands with the 2pt margin of defeat flattering the team. Clan never got into the game although their were only a point behind with 5mins to go. Wasteful shooting by Irelands at the start of the second half kept the Clan Men in it but they were unable to pull off an underserved victory. Clan now face McAnallens in the semi for the last spot in the final, knowing a huge improvement will be required. Clan Ladies produced their best game so far to record a devastating victory over Central Coast who a week earlier had defeated them by 3 pts. Having suffered from fielding weak teams during the league format, Clan were back to full strength and despite shipping a soft goal early on, after that it was all one way traffic with Clan producing a second half which saw them score with almost every attack. They now face Michael Cusacks for the right to square up against McAnallens in the final. The camogie girls bowed out of the championship following a defeat to McAnallens.
29.07.2008 - FATHER TED BOOZE CRUISE PICTURES
Clan held their annual fancy dress booze cruise on Friday with the theme being Vicar and Tarts with a twist i.e. Father Ted inspired. A great night was had by all with everyone getting into the spirit.
28.07.2008 - Championship Round 5
CLAN MEN SECURE TOP SPOT; LADIES FALL TO THIRD DEFEAT IN A ROW
Clan Men secured top spot and the double chance as they easily defeated Michael Cusacks by 7pts in dreadful conditions. They now face Young Irelands in the 1v2 Play Off with the winner going into the final and the loser facing the winner of the 3v4 elimination match. Earlier in the day Clan Ladies were beaten by 3pts by Central Coast and will face the same opposition next week in the elimination match. The camogie girls were beaten by Craobh Padraig and will face McAnallens in the 3v4 match.
14.07.2008 - Championship Round 4
MEN RECORD VITAL WIN; LADIES EDGED OUT BY POINT
The Clan Men came back from the bye weekend and recorded a vital win over Young Irelands to get their Championship push on track. Clan dominated from the start to the finish and were good value for their 5pt win. The Clan ladies were denied their 2nd win of the campaign after being edged out by 1pt against McAnallens. The Ladies will be again rueing a number of wides kicked during the match. The camogie ladies bounced back from their heavy defeat last week to earn a draw in a thrilling match against McAnallens.
07.07.2008 - Championship Round 3
LADIES SUFFER DOUBLE DEFEAT
With the the Men on a bye it was the Clan Ladies in action this weekend. The Ladies football continued their inconsistent start to the championship by falling to a heavy defeat by Michael Cusacks. The camogie girls suffered a heavy defeat to Craobh Padraig.
30.06.2008 - Championship Round 2
MEN CRASH TO FIRST DEFEAT WHILE LADIES RECORD FIRST WIN
The Clan Men's winning streak came to an abrupt end when they were clinically beaten by Penrith Gaels. After a fine performance the previous week, this was a complete turnaround with the Clan backs having no answer to the Penrith forward line throughout the game. Meanwhile the Clan Ladies edged out McAnallens by 2pts in a battling performance which saw them record their first win of this championship campaign. The Clan camogie team suffered their second defeat going down to Central Coast.
23.06.2008 - Championship Round 1
MEN CONTINUE WINNING STREAK; LADIES SUFFER DEFEAT
The opening rounds of the Mens and Ladies Championships saw a repeat of the league final encounters a forthnight earlier. Clan Men recorded a 3pt victory over McAnallens by a 0-10 to 1-04 scoreline. At one point Clan were 0-07 to nil up however slack defending coupled with a strong McAnallens come back got them within 1 score before the final whistle sounded. Clan Ladies open their championship with a 3pt lose to rivals Central Coast. Although Clan fielded a weakened side they will be disappointed not to have gotten a victory from this game. A strong reminder of how difficult it will be for them to record a clean sweep of all trophies this season. The camogie ladies were beaten in a competitive games against McAnallens.
06.06.2008 - CLAN POKER NIGHT ENDS THE LEAGUE CELEBRATIONS
The celebrations that followed both league wins came to a fitting conclusion with the Clan Poker night held on Thursday in the Porterhouse. There was a great turn out for the event which will likely become a regular event during the season. Daryn Davies showed the best poker face on the night to come away with the top prize. Clan would like to express its thanks to Dan from the Porterhouse for helping us put the night together while a massive thanks must go to Gadget and Millenium Carpentry who sponsored the refreshments for both teams on the night.. cheers Gadget :-)
